Weekend Watchlist, 1/16: Paired
What to watch this weekend
Happy New Year, PV Guide readers! If you haven’t voted in the PV Guide Reader’s Choice Awards, I have extended the deadline. Go do it! I want to hear what you liked the most in 2025.
Now, onto this week’s picks!

Twinless

Watch at: Hulu
In this wickedly dark comedy, a young man (Dylan O’Brien) grieving the loss of his identical twin brother meets a charismatic stranger (writer-director James Sweeney) at a support group for twinless twins, and the two strike up a quick bond. Twinless uses the structure of romantic comedies in fresh and exciting new ways, announcing Sweeney as a promising new talent to keep an eye. O’Brien also delivers one of the best performances of the year – it’s a real breakthrough for an actor who spent a lot of time trapped in the Hollywood franchise shuffle.
Ghost Killer

Watch at: For free with ads on Tubi, Plex, and The Roku Channel
One of my very favorite movies of the year (I wrote a review back in July) is now available to watch for free at home, so you bet it’s getting recommended this week. The Baby Assassins dream team of writer Yugo Sakamoto, action designer Kensuke Sonomura, and star Akari Takaishi joined forces again for this superbly entertaining supernatural action comedy. In it, a young college student (Takaishi) finds a stray bullet casing on the ground, and starts being gently haunted by dead hitman Kudo (Masanori Mimoto). To help him move on, she has to help him seek revenge on his killers – in part by letting him control her body and kick ass. It’s one of the very best action movies of the year, and uses its unique premise extremely well in both the story and the action design.
The Jeopardy! postseason

Watch at: Peacock/Hulu or live on ABC
Maybe it’s getting old, maybe there’s something in the air, but my partner and I have recently gotten into our Jeopardy! era. It’s a show I grew up watching as a kid, and it’s been nice to make it a weekday ritual once again – especially because we’re in the most exciting time of a Jeopardy! season, the postseason. We’re in the thick of it now and hurtling towards the Tournament of Champions. The episodes air live on ABC, or next day on Peacock and Hulu (although the new episodes disappear after about a week).
