Happy Friday, PV Guide readers! I hope you have a great weekend ahead of you. I reviewed the stellar new Chinese DTV action movie The Butcher’s Blade, which is both thematically resonant and has the best towel fight I’ve ever seen.

I’m going on a trip this week, and I thought you might want to, too (even if just vicariously). So here are this week’s picks.

Widow’s Bay

Where to watch: Apple TV Plus

I’d been hearing great things about this buzzy new horror comedy show from Katie Dippold – best known for either the Sandra Bullock/Melissa McCarthy cop movie farce The Heat or for dressing up as The Babadook when her friend’s house had more of a grown ups drinking wine vibe, depending on how online you are. I watched the first episode this week and had a blast: Widow’s Bay has strong influences from some of my favorite horror filmmakers (most prominently John Carpenter), but also has plenty of Dippold’s unique sense of humor. It’s also got a great cast – Matthew Rhys gets to flex his considerable comedic chops, and Stephen Root, Dale Dickey, Jeff Hiller, Toby Huss, and Tim Baltz are just part of an extensive (and hilarious) supporting cast.

The best night club in video games

There's not much better than a great video game night club, and YouTuber Any Austin set out to categorically define the best, while also cataloguing innovations in the video game night club space over the years.

My brother sent me this, and I thought it was great. A fun topic, excellent analysis, I completely agree with the #1 pick, and I want to go to many of these places virtually and in real life.

Guy Montgomery’s Guy Mont Spelling Bee’s Girt by Sea Challenge

The extremely funny New Zealand comedian Guy Montgomery’s spelling bee show is one of my most consistent delights on YouTube. It’s back with a new season and with a new sidekick (Taskmaster great Sam Campbell stepping in for the hilarious Aaron Chen), which is a good reason to revisit one of my favorite bits from the show – the “girt by sea” challenge. As a bonus, it fits with this week’s theme!
